Timothy Burns
City Manager
The City Manager is selected by the City Council to serve as the
professional administrator and is responsible for directing all city
operations and projects. The City Manager oversees the administration
of the city budget, develops strong intergovernmental relations, keeps the
Council apprised of the city's financial and operational status, and
administers personnel. The City Manager serves as chief advisor to the
City Council, makes reports and recommendations to the City Council, and
ensures implementation of city policies.
Mr. Burns was appointed City Manager August 14, 2007. Before accepting the
position, he served as the city's Public Works Director. He is a
retired U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer. Mr. Burns holds a
Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of
Connecticut. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of
Washington. Mr. Burns serves on the Board of Directors for the South
Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce, Town Center Business
Association and the Little Red School House.
