BOARD OF APPEALS / ADJUSTMENT VACANCIES

The City of Mill Creek is seeking a volunteer to fill one vacancy on the Board of Appeals / Adjustment. The volunteer position is for a three-year terms, which will expire on April 30, 2010. The Board of Appeals / Adjustment meetings are held on an ad-hoc basis.

The volunteer must be qualified by experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction and other pertinent matters. It is the policy of the City Council to avoid appointing individuals to the board who are engaged in a business relating to building construction or design when a substantial portion of the individual's projects are located in the City.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Board of Appeals / Adjustment shall review and act on the following subjects:

  • Appeals of decisions of the building official on the interpretation or application of the uniform codes adopted in MCMC Title 15.
  • Disapproval of a permit for failure to meet the International Building Codes adopted in MCMC Title 15.
  • Appeals from a decision of the Public Works Director on an adjustment request arising under Chapter 8.12 MCMC.
  • Other quasi-judicial matters as may be expressly delegated to the Board by the City Council.
