Registration for the City of Mill Creek’s fall and winter recreation programs opens Monday, Aug. 13.

This year’s selections include new great classes as well as long time favorites, and range from toddlers to senior citizens. Among the offerings:
  • Preschool Pals will move to three days in a row for the pre-kindergarten class for children ages 4 and 5. Class will now be held Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This program provides hands-on activities for children to explore math, science, art, reading and writing readiness, music, dramatic play and large motor activities.

  • Play-Well Winter Wonderland Engineering. In this camp, students apply architecture, creativity and fun to create a magical winter wonderland! Students will build a hilltop village with slopes for Lego skiers and sledders, as well as motorized contraptions for snowmobiles and gondolas.

  • Stained Glass Craft. In this class, students will learn copper foil glass techniques and build their choice of six flat patterns or a small lidded box.

  • What Parents Need to Know about Cyber Bully and Sexting. Taught by the Mill Creek Police Department, this class shares information about how to better protect oneself online, how to spot online scams and how to help keep children safe online.

  • Essential Oils and Aromatherapy 101. Taught by a Master Clinician Aroma Therapist, students in this class will learn the basics of aromatherapy and complete a custom essential oil profile to create a personalized blend.

  • Free Financial Education Classes for Teens and Adults. These classes center on financial topics, including banking, budgeting, investing and entrepreneurship.

  • Mill Creek Youth Basketball League. Kids in kindergarten through eighth grade can learn the fundamentals of basketball while having fun and developing teamwork skills. Due to limited space, registration for this program ends Sept. 30. For specific league information, visit www.cityofmillcreek.com/basketball.
