What is the Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board?
The Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board is a group of
students living in the Mill Creek area committed to making a
difference in their community.
It is made up of Junior High and High School Students of all
different
backgrounds, that have come together to be a part of the Youth
Advisory Board, an organization committed to making a difference
in the community.
The Mill Creek Youth Advisory
Board is going on its fifth year. Members have been selected to
represent their peers and the City of Mill Creek. During their
time as board members, these students will be creating new
programs for teens, organized special activities and plan
community service opportunities.
In the past, the Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board has done a lot
in the community. They’ve helped out during the Summer Concert
Series, as well as painting sewer drains with the Public Works
Department, and Adopt a Stream. Also, the board helped with
fundraising for the Special Olympics, and was involved in
Octoberfest, at Jackson
High School, and a food drive for Parents Night Out. The Youth Advisory Board was
also a strong supporter of the skate park at
Mill Creek
Sports Park. The impact of the
Youth Advisory Board is clear, and it is because of the team of
youth that are dedicated to their community.
Every
Spring the Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board selects new members
to fill vacated positions to begin the following school year.
All students that are interested in getting involved with their
community are encouraged to apply.
Commitment, reliability, enthusiasm, desire to serve their
community and leadership skills are attributes we seek when
selecting new Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board members.
NOTICE: There
are still vacant positions for the 2005 – 2006 school year.
