Map Your Neighborhood Workshops to Help Community Members Prepare for Disasters
Posted on 01/29/2018
Four Map Your Neighborhood workshops will take place in Mill Creek this year to help people ensure they’re prepared with action steps following a disaster.

These free, 90-minutes sessions provide people with survival tips and teach them how to come together with neighbors and community members to work quickly and save lives when disaster strikes. The course curriculum features new and updated material from Mill Creek Police Chaplain Nick Lewis, who leads the course.

Map Your Neighborhood workshops cover the first nine steps to take immediately following a disaster and teach how to identify safety hazards such as fires, gas explosions, water main shutoffs and other safety concerns. Neighborhoods that are prepared for emergencies and disaster situations can save lives, reduce the severity of injuries and trauma, and reduce property damage.

The workshops are scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on four Wednesdays in 2018, including: Feb. 21, May 23, Aug. 22 and Nov. 28. They will be held in the Council Chambers at Mill Creek City Hall South, 15728 Main St. in Mill Creek.
