Posted on 12/20/2018
Hourly use rates will slightly increase at the Mill Creek Sports Park effective Jan. 1, 2019. The fees were last updated in 2013.

The City Council voted at the Dec. 11 meeting to adjust the fee schedule in City Policy 13-003. The new rates will be:

Second priority users, defined as leagues, organizations, clubs and groups based in Mill Creek or with 51 percent or more of the participants residing within the city limits of Mill Creek:
  • Youth recreation teams: No increase in 2019; remains at $22 per hour. The rates for field and light use will increase with inflation beginning in 2020.
  • Youth select teams: $28 per hour.
  • Youth tournaments/camps: $35 per hour.
  • Adult recreation and select teams: $50 per hour.
  • Adult tournaments/camps: $57 per hour.

Third priority users, defined as leagues, organizations, clubs and groups with participants being composed of less than 51 percent of City of Mill Creek residents.
  • Youth recreation and select teams: $50 per hour.
  • Youth tournaments/camps: No increase for 2019; remains at $51 per hour.
  • Adult recreation and select teams: No increase for 2019; remains at $65 per hour.
  • Adult tournaments/camps: No increase for 2019; remains at $72 per hour.

Light use will increase from $15 to $20 per hour for all use groups except second priority youth recreation users.

The City’s hourly rates are below the average of other parks and ballfields in the area that have synthetic turf fields with lighting.

Mill Creek Sports Park has been the City of Mill Creek’s most popular recreational facility since it was opened in 2004. The park serves approximately 3,825 youth annually. In addition to recreational program use, the field is rented an average of 2,021 hours over the course of 330 days by local youth sports organizations, including Mill Creek Little League, Silver Lake Soccer Club, and Washington Rush Soccer. It serves as the only all-weather turf baseball and soccer field in the City.

The City is investing in significant field upgrades this year with the Mill Creek Sports Park Turf and Light Replacement project, which will replace the current aging 64,000 square feet field turf, and retro-fit and upgrade the existing park lighting system at the field, skate park, and parking lot, among other improvements.
