Traffic Safety Reminders

Safety/Traffic Reminders for the Graduate Parade:

Your safety, the safety of your passengers, and the safety of those around you are our top priorities.  Participants will be expected to follow these safety rules.  Failure to follow these rules may result in your removal from the procession and, if it involves a law violation, a citation.

  • Each vehicle will turn on high-beams and flashers to indicate you are part of the parade procession.
  • Yield to any approaching emergency vehicles.
  • Maintain a safe distance between vehicles, but don’t allow so much room that another vehicle tries to turn in front of you.
  • If for some reason you get caught at a light or are delayed, don’t speed or run red lights to catch up.  Officers at intersections will inform the procession leader when the procession needs to slow down or stop to allow others to catch up.
  • All passengers must wear seat belts and remain in their seats.
  • All passengers must be in the vehicle; no one is permitted to ride in the bed of a pick-up truck or stand out of a sunroof.
  • Signs and window markings should not affect the driver’s ability to safely operate the vehicle. Make sure all decorations are securely adhered to the vehicle.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
If you need a spot to undecorate your car as not to litter the highway, at the end of the parade route please turn right on Bothell-Everett Hwy. to use the parking stalls in the Mill Creek Library Parking lot located on the right side of Bothell-Everett Hwy.
